Interesting, how in the proverbial 'blink of an eye' something that seemed so permanent, so given, has changed forever. Made me think of the wisdom that my Chris shared with me so long ago...the only thing constant IS change (a known translation variation for a quote by Heraclitus, 500BC, Greek philosopher).

On thinking about how to proceed when in the throes of change, the word 'quietly' came to mind. I found myself searching for quotes about this word and its root. Here are the quotes that sang to me today:

“There is always music amongst the trees in the garden, but our hearts must be very quiet to hear it.” ~ Minnie Aumonier

“Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses.” ~ Ann Landers

“Quiet people are well able to look after themselves.” ~ Irish Proverb

“Men would live exceedingly quiet if these two words, mine and thine were taken away.” ~ Anaxagoras (Greek philosopher of nature, 500-428 BC)

“In quiet moments when you think about it, you recognize what is critically important in life and what isn't. Be wise and don't let good things crowd out those that are essential.” ~ Elder Richard G. Scott

“Only in quiet waters do things mirror themselves undistorted. Only in a quiet mind is adequate perception of the world.” ~ Hans Margolius

“Learn to be quiet enough to hear the genuine within yourself so that you can hear it in others.” ~ Marian Wright Edelman

“Wise men, when in doubt whether to speak or to keep quiet, give themselves the benefit of the doubt, and remain silent.” ~ Napoleon Hill

“The fastest way to succeed is to look as if you're playing by somebody else's rules, while quietly playing by your own.” ~ Michael Konda

“Sitting quietly, doing nothing, spring comes, and the grass grows by itself.” ~ Zen Proverb

And seguing into 'silence,' I found a quote that my Chris has said and lived many a time. It's now the time I pay attention and do the same....

“There are times when silence has the loudest voice.” ~ Leroy Brownlow
