It's been awhile since I wrote a post that doesn't involve "In Person Happenings" and the like. Part of this is because it's just been a busy last few months, but another part of this is that I'm gearing up to do the actual writing of my new book, co-authored with Rev. Tim Brainard, "Under the Wings of Spirit." In fact, today is the day I start to study and understand how to use the software, "Dragon Naturally Speaking," which will help me to transcribe conversations that Tim and I have been having via phone for well over a year. It's my hope that the book will get done by a year from today, however we're in no particular hurry to finish. In fact, it's been so pleasurable to have weekly conversations with Tim, I have a feeling we will continue our talks and happily accumulate enough material for other books to come. Ha!

Just as when I worked on my first book, "Spinning Around - Spinning, Dyeing & Knitting Elizabeth Zimmermann's Classics," Schoolhouse Press, 2010, and found myself starting the day's writing session by entering a blog post first, that's just what I was nudged to do today. So here goes...

Several years ago, rather spontaneously or so it seemed, I would get definite and often intense but not uncomfortable energy shooting up my spine...what I called and continue to call "energy flying up my back"...whenever I was facilitating a reading for someone. This began happening well before I went to seminary at Fellowships Of The Spirit (FOTS), when I was already giving Tarot readings at a few local venues and when giving Empath readings online. I KNEW from the very beginning, that whenever this happened, whatever was being discussed was an important point for the client to consider; a "hit ya on yer head" kind of moment. It didn't mean that when I did not get this energy surge that things relayed from Spirit were not important, it just was a sort of nudge to ask the client to consider paying close attention.

When these power surges first began, I had no idea that there was any name attached to them. I didn't question where they came from, however, because I knew my intentions were to get guidance from the Highest Source, and that whatever was given was for the highest and best good of the client. I was and am grateful for this definite, unmistakable help from Spirit and I have never held back from telling a client that it was happening.

A little while later, when I began to meditate on a daily basis, it wasn't long before I watched my body, as if viewing it from a distance, twirl during many such meditation sessions. This twirling movement was never forced; it just happened. Somehow I knew it was attached to the positively informative energy surges that flew up my back. Not long after this all started up, I noted that the twirling/spiraling of my body could be described in four separate movements that segued into each other, but not always in a linear nor predictable fashion.
The movements are as follows: 1) side-by-side rocking, which can be very fast, or very slow, or somewhere in between; 2) a rather quick shudder of just my shoulders; 3) clockwise movement of my entire upper torso, usually quite slow but not always; 4) counter-clockwise movement of my entire upper torso, usually quite slow but not always. The reason I explain these movements are not linear is because I don't always go from 1-4. Sometimes 3 and 4 go back and forth before returning to 1. Sometimes 2 occurs between 3 and 4. And so on...

Chris and I have been discussing these twirling movements for quite awhile now. He mentioned that he noticed from the time he met me that my foot or leg would do interesting, even unto unusual, often-complex repeating patterns, especially when sitting with my legs crossed. If truth be told, I've done this all of my life. These are not average leg swings. They could almost be explained that my foot was drawing sacred geometric patterns in the air. Chris feels this all has something to do with my energy up-the-back surges, etc. and so do I. But please know that during my lifetime I just accepted what my foot did as something quite normal...and so it is normal...for me, anyways. It should be noted that in my early life I didn't think much about it one way or another. Kind of like how I now remember seeing light around people and objects when I was around 7 or 8, but I never told anyone about it, nor particularly worried about it, at the time. Then again, I most definitely may not have felt safe telling anyone what I was seeing, feeling, etc., because something inside of me told me that lots of people, including family members, may not understand nor be able to relate.

I don't know the exact time when I equated the power surges and twirling with Kundalini energy, but at some point it happened. Curiosity piqued, I began searching for more information of late. I recently read the little tho' excellent book, "Kundalini - The Secret Of Life," by Swami Muktananda. And now I'm engrossed reading a MUCH bigger book, "Kundalini Rising - Exploring The Energy Of Awakening," by Gurmukh Kaur Kalsa, Andrew Newberg, Sivananda Radha, Ken Wilber, and John Selby. To quote the beginning paragraph written by Tami Simon, "In 1984, I needed the book, Kundalini Rising, and it didn't exist." Well thank goodness it exists today. I am having a hard time putting it down! Importantly, the book explains how Kundalini energy is VERY PERSONAL and does not awaken the same way in every one, if at all in a lifetime. This alone is comforting, knowing that Kundalini is unfolding in me exactly how it needs to and in a way that my body not only understands but is uplifted by.

It's my hope that by explaining some of what I am experiencing regarding Kundalini energy, that it will help others. I'd love to hear from YOU and learn of your experiences if you'd like to share. Thank you!

September's Free Reading

Calling all those who want to be in September's drawing for one free reading. The winner can choose between one 30-minute Tarot reading OR a 30-minute Psychic Mediumship reading. The reading will be via Skype or phone. An MP3 recording of the reading will be included as my gift to you, if one desires it.

How can you win this reading? Either send me an e-mail ( OR comment on the blog post that has the free offer (include your e-mail address so I can contact you if you win). After a few days of having the free-offer-post up I'll put all names in a hat and pull the winner (my random decision on when this will happen). The winner will be on the post that the offer was on, using their first name only (along with last name initials, if needed to distinguish them from others with the same first name). I'll contact that person via e-mail to let them know that they have won. We'll schedule a reading for a day/time that's good for both of us. If you win, please do not enter the contest again for one year. Thank you!

If you do not win this month, your name will automatically go into the drawing for the following months, so no need to e-mail me each month to be included. If, for whatever reason, you don't want to be in future drawings do let me know, please.

The winner for September's free reading is: Jocelyn (from South Africa)
